The objective of an Asian blepharoplasty is to create a natural appearing fold at an appropriate height in the lid (if the fold is too high, the appearance will look too occidental). In addition, post-operative symmetry is highly important (having the two eyelids in appearance) to achieve the attractive result desired by the patient. Can Dr. Oestreicher correct the unsatisfactory results of an Asian blepharoplasty or double eyelid surgery performed by another medical professionals?
Yes, Dr. Oestreicher has the experience, training and skills required to correct the unsatisfactory results of an Asian blepharoplasty done by another medical professional. For example, he can improve indefinite folds, uneven folds or unequal folds. It is also possible to emphasize or raise the height of an eyelid fold, but it is extremely difficult to reliably lower eyelid folds.
Can baggy eyelids impair vision?
Yes, in severe situations, you may have impaired field of vision. If the impairment is extremely severe, the corrective procedure may in rare cases be covered by OHIP. Other conditions that can impair your vision include eye injury, eyelid cancer, or eyelids that roll in (entropion) or out (ectropion).

Dr. James Oestreicher is a medical doctor (MD) who is certified as a specialist in Ophthalmology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC). He has also been certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS), an exclusive organization restricted to a group of highly trained specialists.
